Samsung launches food planning and suggestion platform

Samsung has launched a food planning and suggestion platform called Samsung Food in 104 countries and regions. The platform is based on Whisk, which was acquired by Samsung Next unit in 2019. Samsung said that the platform has more than 160,000 recipes, covering eight languages. They include English, Spanish, Korean, German, French and Italian.

Samsung noted that the platform, like Whisk, allows users to search for recipes, create shopping lists, create meal plans and follow creators who post recipes. Users can save recipes and add ingredients to their shopping list while saving. 

The platform also provides integration with e-commerce platforms in some regions to facilitate users to purchase these ingredients. It’s worth noting that the new Samsung Food website is very similar to the Whisk website. Also, download links for the app still point to Whisk’s pages on the Play Store and App Store.

Samsung Food will upgrade in the future

Samsung’s Bespoke range of refrigerators will also support the app. If the refrigerator is connected to the internet, the screen can be used to browse the app. The company also plans to better integrate its Bespoke range of appliances such as microwaves and ovens.

With the app, Samsung claims that cooking will be easier and tailored to specific recipes. This will help users set timers, preheat ovens or change cooking settings on Samsung devices. 

Samsung is also introducing personalization features through “Food AI,”. This will allow users to change recipes to be vegetarian or vegan-friendly. Samsung said it will also offer a balanced nutritional value by swapping ingredients, or create a Korean version of an Italian dish by requesting one. 

The company has ambitious goals for the Samsung Food platform. It said that it has plans to integrate the platform with Samsung Health by the end of this year to provide users with better nutrition records and diet management. By 2024, Samsung hopes to introduce “visual AI” into Samsung Food. This will allow the app to identify food and list its nutritional value through the phone’s camera.
