Google recently announced the release of Android 14 Beta 4, hinting that the stable version would follow soon. They even shared an image illustrating the release timeframe, which they have been consistently publishing with each new beta release. However, instead of the final version, Google announced the arrival of Beta 5 for Android 14.
“With the official release of Android 14 only weeks away, today we’re bringing you Beta 5, the last scheduled update in our Android 14 beta program. It’s the last chance to make sure your apps are ready and provide feedback before non-beta users start getting Android 14. To enable you to test your applications on devices spanning multiple form factors, Beta 5 is available for Pixel Tablet and Pixel Fold, in addition to the rest of the supported Pixel family and the Android emulator”. said Google in its blog post.
Google’s Android 14 Beta 5
To make matters worse, Google is now denying that it implied the imminent release last month. They have even edited the timeline image, which now appears to have been clumsily modified. If you look closely, you’ll notice a jagged dark blue line just before the newly added “Aug” slot, suggesting a hasty addition.

It’s puzzling why Google couldn’t simply acknowledge that it is taking longer than expected to finalize Android 14 update. People would understand. But to deny their previous implications and hastily alter images in an amateurish manner? We’re left wondering what’s really going on.
Moving on, Android 14 Beta 5 comes with numerous bug fixes—dozens, in fact. While we won’t list them all here, you can find the complete list at the Source linked below.
If you have an eligible Pixel device (Pixel 4a 5G or later) enrolled in the Android Beta program, you’ll receive the update over-the-air. If not, you can enroll your device by visiting the provided link. Once enrolled, you’ll receive the new Beta 5 as an over-the-air update.
