WhatsApp to Receive a Major Interface Redesign

WhatsApp has been consistently introducing new features to its platform in recent years. This trend has gradually accelerated, with frequent additions on the beta channel. Some recent updates include simplifying the sharing of uncompressed media. The Meta owned platform has also introduced AI-generated stickers.

Additionally, Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, made adjustments to the app’s design on the beta channel. They have relocated the navigation bar to the bottom and updated various user interface elements. Excitingly, WhatsApp is currently in the process of planning an extensive design overhaul for its Android app.

New Interface Design Coming to WhatsAppWhatsApp Interface

In the latest WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.23.13.16, which is available to select beta testers, the user interface has undergone significant changes. The new design incorporates updated Material Design 3 elements. The top bar of the app is now entirely white. Other user interface elements are in the same green shade that WhatsApp uses in its logo. Furthermore, this beta release introduces a new font for WhatsApp’s branding at the top. This gives the app a whole new refreshed look and feel.

These collective changes bring a more contemporary look and feel to WhatsApp. Although the navigation bar remains at the bottom in this new design, it’s currently uncertain whether you’ll be able to swipe to switch between tabs. This is because further details on this functionality are not yet confirmed.

To enhance the management of your growing list of conversations, the redesigned WhatsApp app will incorporate chat filters at the top. These filters will enable you to easily sort and view your unread, personal, or business messages. While they had made an appearance in a previous WhatsApp beta build, the latest version features an updated appearance. These filters are expected to become even more valuable when WhatsApp introduces multi-account support.
