Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, known for accurate predictions about Apple devices, has unveiled information about the next-generation Mac Mini compact desktop computer.
This is a premium version of the device. Earlier rumors circulated that a new high-end Mac Mini would see the light of day later this year. However, other information has now emerged.
According to Mr. Kuo, the computer will be presented no earlier than 2023. In addition, Apple is also planning to announce a new Mac Pro and iMac Pro computers next year.
Analyst: new premium Apple Mac Mini will launch in 2023
Recently, it was reported that Apple is developing variants of the Mac Mini on two processors – M2 and M2 Pro. The first of these chips contains eight computing cores – four productive cores and four energy-efficient cores. The second product combines twelve cores, including eight productive and four energy-efficient.
Internet sources report that Apple is preparing two versions of the new generation Mac mini compact desktop computer. One of them will receive a proprietary M2 processor, the second – M2 Pro.
The Mac mini with the M2 chip has the codename J473. The M2 processor, internally named Staten, will be the first major update to the Apple M family since the introduction of the M1 chip in 2020. The M2 will be based on the A15 processor. We are talking about the presence of eight computing cores – four productive cores and four energy-efficient cores. In addition, the product will include a 10-core graphics node.

The Mac mini version with the M2 Pro processor is J474. This chip will have a 12-core configuration with eight performance cores and four energy-efficient ones.
Also, note that Apple’s plans do not yet include the release of Mac mini with M2 Max and M2 Ultra processors. They are likely to be used in more powerful Macs.
