Another brand is preparing for a release of a brand flagship model and this time its Homtom HT10 on the menu. The specs are not yet officially confirmed so only rumors about 5.5″ FHD display, Helio X20 chipset, 4 GB RAM and 21 Mpix main camera.
But what is confirmed is the emergence of second generation of the iris scanner used in the handset. The second gen should bring way faster recognition of the iris within one second, better sensitivity in low light and possibility of using it for locking selected apps.

From the first pictures it looks like the iris scanner would be fully replacing the fingerprint one on the body of Homtom HT10. Although we have seen the iris scanners used on some phone models before, the first generation wasn’t so reliable as main security feature so let’s hope the second generation will be faring way better.

I do not think this security option is going to catch up a lot of traction IHMO. you have to be in at least a certain position for it to work and obviously can’t unlock it without the phone looking at you as it is possible with fingerprint reader.
So not my cup of tea, hope it does sufice for those craving for it.

HM, are they at least using a infrared camera (with infrared spot-led) for it, so it works in dark?
I am looking forward to see these next gen chinese phones available. So far its been mostly just updated last year designs. The only exception is Elephone P9000 but I am not elefan 🙂 Other like future, F7, xtouch plus and such are just vaporware atm. What I expect this years is P10 and better SOC, smaller size around 150*76 for a 5,5″, 3/32 memory configuration, thinner black borders and decent camera performance with other features like USB C as a nice bonus…

I’d be careful here – it’s Doogee and they have a history of claiming way better parameters of the phone components than actually installed.
Sure, but who doesnt? My conclusion is that there isnt a chinese budget/internet brand which could be trusted. Elephone, doogee, ulefone, umi….all these brands have higher than average fault rate, time to market, marketing bullshit rate while having worse support and warranty service. You have to either be kind of an adventurer to order some of their products or you have to be on extremely low budget targeting the likes of Homtom HT7 etc…I have been using Xperia Zs last few years and I am a little bored by the fact that the phone just works out of the box, has frequent updates which dont cause new errors and has fallen a lot and still works so I am looking for something else here 🙂

I specifically don’t like the fact that Doogee phones described as having 2200mAh battery on the box in reality only had 1800mAh, which was proved by the users.
Looks like the same situation exactly, we have with Homtom claiming 4000mAh, while users confirm the real capacity is 3400 … They just don’t learn, or it must really be paying to them.
Well, you right, that’s definitely behind the line between confusing marketing and fraud. I still don’t get why should they do this. I doubt they would lose any of their customers if the actual values were declared instead of the fake ones.

The Homtom officials are pretty adamant in claims that they are independent on Doogee fully.

That’s just another poor attempt to gather marketing attention. Doogee have never, ever used top of the line SoC, because their whole point in selling phones is either design or battery life, definitely not performance.
Too confronting. Most people would not want to be to face scanning every time they want to use their phone.
