A new Samsung Galaxy M44 was spotted on the Geekbench Benchmark website with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. The device will soon join the competitive mid-range smartphone segment, and apparently, Samsung’s choice of the chipset will give a certain advantage.

The Samsung Galaxy M44 passed by the Geekbench Benchmark with build number SM-M446K and the “Lahaina” codenamed chipset. The codename stands for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 and the 2.84 GHz Clock Speed and the Adreno 660 GPU corroborate this fact. Besides the powerful chipset, the phone boasts 6 GB of RAM and runs Android 13. We expect this to be just one variant, and Samsung will likely sell the phone in more distinct flavors.

The Samsung Galaxy M44 may have a certain advantage over other mid-range phones due to the choice of CPU. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 is definitively stronger than most of the mid-range chipsets. It has a powerful GPU and a Cortex-X1, something that is not even present in the current mid-range chipsets. The Snapdragon 778G+ is one of the favorite choices for the mid-range market. The Galaxy M44 scores 1,531 points in the single-core, and 3771 points in the multi-core department. Apart from this, Geekbench does not provide additional details about the handset. However, we can expect it to bag more certifications in the coming weeks.
A new mid-range contender is making the way
The Galaxy M44 should be positioned above the Samsung Galaxy M34 5G which launched recently in India (via 91Mobiles). Curiously, it marks Samsung’s next step into this particular smartphone family. To recall, the Galaxy M42 was the last smartphone in this lineup. It was announced in April 2021 with the Snapdragon 750 5G, AMOLED screen with 1,600 x 720 pixels, 48 MP Quad Camera Setup, and a huge 5,000 mAh battery. We did not have a Galaxy M43, so the Galaxy M44 will serve as a direct successor for this interesting device that was popular in 2023.
