Samsung Exynos 1280: what the new chip will offer

Much has already been said about the fact that on March 17, Samsung will arrange a presentation of the Galaxy A33 5G and Galaxy A53 5G. It is possible that the company will also show the Galaxy A73 5G, but insiders previously predicted that the company would delay the release of this model until a later date.

It is expected that the Galaxy A53 5G will receive a new Exynos 1280 chip, which was not known until recently. And today a little more was told about this processor. It is reported that this chip is manufactured using a 5-nanometer process technology.

The platform will include eight processor cores, two of which are high-performance Cortex-A78 with a frequency of 2.4 GHz and six energy-efficient Cortex-A55, operating at a frequency of 2.3 GHz. The video accelerator Mali-G68 MP4, operating at a frequency of 1 GHz, will be responsible for graphics processing. The chipset will offer a 5G modem, support for Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6.

Of course, the chip will not produce performance at the level of current flagship processors. Judging by the specifications of the Exynos 1280, the new platform is very similar to the Dimensity 900, which means it will offer the same power. If these assumptions are correct, then in terms of performance, the Galaxy A53 5G will hardly outperform the Snapdragon 778G-powered Galaxy A52s.

According to leaks, the Galaxy A53 5G will feature a 6.5-inch Full HD+ AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. As previously reported, the device will be based on the Samsung Exynos 1280 chipset; which will work in conjunction with 6 GB of RAM. The storage capacity will be 128 GB.

In terms of cameras, the Galaxy A53 5G will boast a quad-camera setup on the back; combining a 64MP primary sensor with a 12MP secondary and dual 5MP sensors. The resolution of the selfie camera will be 32 megapixels. Also, the smartphone has a 5000 mAh battery with support for 25 W fast charging; and dust and moisture protection according to the IP67 standard. As for the design, the smartphone will be almost indistinguishable from last year’s Galaxy A52s.

In addition, the Galaxy A33 5G smartphone will receive a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with a small cutout at the top. Also, the panel resolution will be 2400 × 1080 pixels, the refresh rate is 90 Hz. The protective glass Corning Gorilla Glass 5 is available. The front camera will be able to form 13-megapixel images. The rear camera will receive a quadruple configuration. This is a 48-megapixel main unit with optical stabilization, an 8-megapixel module with wide-angle optics (120 degrees); a 5-megapixel macro sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.
