Google adds the ability to install apps on Android TV via smartphone

At the Google I / O virtual event in May this year, the developers announced a feature that will greatly simplify the process of finding and installing apps on Wear OS devices. This feature adds a pop-up menu that appears after clicking the Install button in the Play Store and allows you to install the application on your smartwatch. Now it has become known that Google has begun rolling out a similar solution for smart TVs with Android TV.

Currently, to install applications on Android TV, you need to launch the Play Store on the TV itself and find the desired product, which is not always convenient to do, especially in the absence of a keyboard or voice control. Although you can use the web version of the app store, you cannot install the software on the TV from your smartphone. The good news is that this is about to change; and Android TV users will be able to download software directly from their smartphones.

The function is implemented in such a way that when you click the Install button in the Play Store, a pop-up menu appears; which displays all available synced devices, including TVs with Android TV. It is enough to mark the desired item and confirm the choice; after which the application will be installed on the device. According to reports, the new feature is currently available to a limited number of users; who have installed the latest version of the Play Store. We can assume that it will become more widespread in the coming days.

Android TV 12

As enthusiasts from the XDA Developers mobile developer community have noted that the fresh Android 12 beta update for TVs offers long-awaited features that make Android 12 the most exciting update for the Android TV platform in years.

The most significant innovations are 4K rendering of the user interface and dynamic frame rate switching.

While Android TV has supported 4K content playback for years; Android 12 will be the first platform version to show the UI itself in 4K. Previously, the UI was rendered at a maximum resolution of 1080p and then scaled to fit the TV screen. The home screen interface, settings and other system elements should now be clearer.

Dynamic Frame Rate Switching offers additional settings that can be used by applications; to play content at the optimal frame rate.

Other features have been added to make life easier for developers by optimizing the connection of Android TVs to TVs; as well as new microphone and camera indicators, switches to quickly block microphone and camera use.
