8BitDo has just started taking preorders for its brand-new controller. Named the 8BitDo Ultimate C, it is a much simpler and more affordable model than the original Ultimate. And even though it’s considerably cheaper than the regular version, it has everything you would look for in the best controller.
Now, in case you are wondering, the 8BitDo Ultimate C is available in two different versions. Depending on your needs, you can get it in wired or wireless form. And the great part is that both versions support not only PC, but also Steam Deck and other mobile devices.
Main Highlights of 8BitDo Ultimate C
8BitDo launched Ultimate at two different price points. The Bluetooth version went for $70, while the 2.4 GHz model had a $50 price tag. In comparison, the 8BitDo Ultimate C is $20 for the wired version, while the wireless version costs just $30. At that price point, you get a lot of value for your money.
But yes, it’s not like that the Ultimate C is a better version of the Ultimate controller. Instead, as stated earlier, it is a “simpler” edition. So, there are some tradeoffs. Among them, the biggest one is the lack of customization support. Additionally, the Ultimate C does not come with extra back paddles as the 8BitDo Ultimate.

Other than that, everything about the 8BitDo Ultimate C is just perfect. The wireless version can offer up to 25 hours of battery life, and it ships with a 2.4 GHz wireless dongle. It also has the same design and button layout as the Ultimate. The controller even has rumble support on Windows, analog triggers, and a turbo button.
However, note that the Ultimate C does not support Nintendo Switch. And the wireless version does not have a charging dock, so you will need to use one of your USB C cables.
