Google is already testing out Android 14 on devices through Android 14 Developer previews. The first preview came out on February 2023. If that happens, the stable version of One UI 6.0 will release in Q4 2023.

Although Samsung has not disclosed any details about the upcoming One UI 6.0, Google has been showcasing the features of Android with developer previews. And in general, most of the features that are in the developer previews of Android end up in the One UI of Samsung.

New Back Arrow for Gesture Navigation on Android 14

The new back arrow is one of the most notable features of the Android 14 Beta 1. It lets you swipe from the left or right edge of your phone to go back. Of course, you will need to keep the gesture navigation enabled to enjoy this feature. Once enabled, you will see a back arrow wrapped in a bubble on the screen’s edge.

Google says that this new back gesture will “improve back gesture understanding and usefulness.” And as you might have expected, it follows the dynamic theming of Material You. Samsung might change the design a little to make it go along with the theme of One UI 6.0.

Consistent and Smoother Sharing Features

On Android 14, app developers can add custom actions on the sharing menu. This will make it easier to access different sharing options in a particular app. Moreover, the operating system utilizes more app signals to determine the placement or ranking of those actions in the sharing menu. This feature will likely come on One UI 6.0.

Per-app Language Preferences

With the release of Android 13, Google has introduced the per-app language preference feature. You will find it in the current version of One UI. Hiding Weather Info on the Lock Screen

The stock Android 13 UI displays the weather on the lock screen. And many do not like how it looks. On Android 14, Google has introduced the option to disable the weather info on the lock screen. This feature may not make it to One UI 6.0, however. From what it seems, it’s more tailed for the Google Pixel phones.

Dedicated Nearby Share in the Sharing Menu of Android 14

Nearby Share is basically Android’s equivalent to Nearby Share. It’s a feature that lets you wirelessly and locally share files. Samsung has its own version named Samsung Quick Share. It’s present in the current version of One UI. However, if you want to share something, you have to navigate all the way to the app from which you want to share the desired file and then select Nearby Share.

Well, that will change with Android 14. It adds the Nearby Share option will pop up in the sharing menu. And this improvement will likely end up on One UI 6.0.
