Apple took the wraps off its iPhone 15 series after months of leaks and anticipation. The highly anticipated iPhone 15 series has arrived and many of the leaks proved to be true. The new devices are marked by the removal of the Lightning Port and the Addition of a USB Type-C port after nearly 15 years. They also bring significant upgrades with the Apple A17 Pro being the icing on the cake. However, the biggest surprise was to see the iPhone 15 Pro touted as “the next level of mobile gaming”.
Apple took a few minutes of its keynote to drop a bomb on Apple fans by revealing that AAA games will run natively on the Pro flagships. The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will get native versions of Resident Evil 4 Remake, Resident Evil Village, Death Stranding, and Assassin’s Creed Mirage. This is the early list, and more games can come in the future.
The iPhone 15 Pro will get ports of modern AAA Console/PC Games
The addition of PC/console games means a huge milestone for mobile gaming. The landscape has evolved a lot in the past years with some mobile gaming impressing even the most loyal console gamer. However, seeing console and PC games reaching the mobile landscape is something new. We already saw ports of smaller Indie games like, for instance, Telltale’s The Walking Dead series or even Life is Strange 1. However, we never saw games with impressive graphics reaching mobile devices.

Resident Evil 4 Remake is truly impressive on consoles, and will soon reach the iPhone 15 Pro. The upcoming Assassin’s Creed Mirage, set to launch on October 5 for consoles and PC, will also get a native port for the iPhone 15 Pro.
This is just the beginning, and we still need to wait how these games will perform. Also, we are especially curious to see how playing demanding games will impact the iPhone 15 Pro’s battery life. Still, this whole idea of playing modern AAA games on mobile devices is simply awesome. And this is not like playing through a cloud gaming service, playing it natively is truly impressive.
As for release timing, Resident Evil Village, RE4 Remake, And Death Stranding are coming to iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro Max later this year. Assassin’s Creed Mirage, is coming in the first half of 2024 for the iPhone 15 Pro series, a bit later than the console and PC release. Perhaps, Ubisoft needs some more time to port these games.
Apple states that the pro-class GPU is 20 percent faster, featuring a 6-core design with better peak performance and energy efficiency. Apple states its new Apple A17 Pro enables, “next-level mobile gaming with fast, efficient performance and hardware-accelerated ray tracing.
